my little one was throwing a fit this morning over breakfats choices. She insisted on pretzels, and after 20 minutes of offering choices liek cereal, toast with cream cheese, cheese slices, fruit, waffles...we needed to be out the door, so i gave her the pretzels. at least it was something, right?!

Oh I have done that many times...one thing that I have done if we have to be out fast of the house is make up a "snack mix" with cherrios, peanuts, pretzels, sneak in a few M&M's, fish crackers, just whatever I can find to make a snack mix, put into a snack trap cup and away we go, funny they end up eating it all...might work for you next time...

ice cream was probably the worse

Pretzels don't sound all that bad. Probably the worst thing we allow DD to eat is pancakes with chocolate chips, which we have every Saturday as a special breakfast. We also load them up with flax to make it more nutritious, but we know she's just eating them for the chocolate.  A girl after my own heart...

If my middle DD had her way, she would have pancakes and sausage everyday! So, we compromise and have it every other Saturday morning. We have to watch her though because she will hork all the sausage and leave none for the rest of us!

My kids eat ultra-healthy breakfasts on weekdays, but on weekends we let them choose "treats" (um, crap). My 3 year old always goes for chocolate Poptarts.

I LOVE chocolate poptarts and that would be my breakfast of choice too! During the week, my DD eats a pretty balanced breakfast but like Mama3- on weekends, we do the cc pancakes too although I add sliced bananas and strawberries to try and up the health factor!

Oh yes, WP - the whole reason the chocolate chips pancakes came into existence was to use overripe bananas. We've done this for years, well before DD came along - although back in the day they used to have walnuts in them too.

my husband works nights so on my sons birthday (he'll be three in july) we have always had birthday cake for breakfast. It's become sort of a tradition. So i would have to say that one day a year is that is worst thing I would hope to ever feed him for breakfast. However, I (knock on wood) he has not yet gotten to a point where he has to much of an opinion about food. He'll eat almost anything I give him.

Pop tarts and donuts are our downfall. I f they're in the house (my DH buys them to have on hand as "emergency" breakfast - lol), then that's what they want. My DH and his siblings used to con their mom into ice cream for breakfast too, Melissa - It's a dairy product - There's sugar in it, but there's also sugar in cereals, etc. They could manage it about once a month.

The worst breakfast my little one ever had was -- popcorn. Yes, popcorn! One day I made a silly decision of making some popcorn for the family. My little one tried it for the first time and loved it, and he traded his nutritious breakfast for a whole cup of popcorn that day. After that, I threw all the remaining popcorn packs away.
